French Government Scholarship

I was awarded a short research scholarship funded by the French Government to study the perception of subphonemic features in Nice, France!

In August 2021, I will go to Nice (Université Côte d’Azur) to conduct an EEG experiment forming part of a project entitled: "Cross-linguistic differences in the perception of subphonemic features – an EEG study". My host is Tobias Scheer.

In Nice, I will be looking at the perception of aperture in obstruents based on differences in intensity, duration and harmonics-to-noise ratio in post-vocalic position. In an oddball paradigm, I will be looking at the mismatch negativity (MMN) marking reactions to these sound differences, comparing Polish, Spanish and French speakers. The study in Nice will be focused on the French group of participants.
